Custom-Fit Specialty Lenses
We fit contact lenses through a detailed contact lens exam. This process includes using an instrument called the Oculus Keratograph, which measures the shape of the front of your eyes for a custom fit and precise prescription.
With our scleral lenses, we may also use an optical coherence tomography (OCT) scan, which uses light waves to provide a detailed map of your eyes.
Additionally, we may use EyePrintPRO technology to fit scleral lenses. This technology creates a gentle, painless impression that is used to make a custom-fit scleral device that matches the exact contours of your eyes. This allows us to accurately fit scleral lenses, especially for those with corneal diseases or who’ve had corneal surgeries.
Contact Lenses for Keratoconus
Keratoconus is a condition that causes the normally round cornea, which is the clear, front part of the eye, to progressively become thinner and bulge out into a cone shape. Keratoconus typically begins in late teens and early 20s, but can develop at any time.
Symptoms of keratoconus include blurred vision, light sensitivity, and difficulty driving at night. Our doctors can diagnose keratoconus, and they can fit individuals with custom lenses that improve their vision.
Specialty contact lenses, such as scleral lenses, are a great option for vision improvement for people with keratoconus. Our clinic offers custom scleral lens fittings using key technology such as OCT scans and EyePrintPRO.

Our Specialty Contact Lens Options
We have doctors who excel in fitting an array of specialty contact lenses for hard-to-fit eyes. Whether you have a corneal abnormality, such as keratoconus, or have experienced corneal surgeries, such as a transplant, LASIK, or PRK, or you suffer from dry eye syndrome, we’re here to help you find the right fit.
Explore the specialty contact lens we fit:
Scleral contact lenses have a unique shape. With a wide diameter, these rigid gas-permeable lenses are designed to sit on the white part of your eyes, the sclera, rather than on your cornea. The space between the lens and the cornea is filled with a special saline solution, which provides clear vision and continuous moisture to your eyes during wear.
This makes scleral lenses a great option for those with corneal irregularities, such as individuals with keratoconus, corneal dystrophies, severe dry eye syndrome, or those who have had corneal surgery (including corneal transplants, LASIK, PRK, etc.).
Aspheric contact lenses are designed for people with distinct eye aberrations (imperfections of the eye) that impact vision. Aspheric lenses have varying curvatures across the surface of the contact lens. This curvature is designed custom to your eyes to provide clear, crisp vision.
If you notice eye strain while wearing standard contact lenses, or if you have high astigmatism, aspheric lenses may provide you with clearer, more comfortable vision.
Hybrid contact lenses have a distinct design to maximize clarity and comfort. They have a rigid gas-permeable center for clear vision with a soft silicone hydrogel skirt that sits on the eye. We use SynergEyes hybrid contact lenses.
Most commonly, we fit hybrid lenses for patients with a significant amount of astigmatism. Hybrid lenses can provide these patients with stable vision that doesn’t shift or vary as they may have experienced with standard soft contact lenses.
We may also recommend hybrid lenses for patients with irregular corneas and may recommend these lenses as an alternative to scleral lenses.
Multifocal contact lenses include multiple powers, or prescription levels, within the lens to allow you to see near and far distances without needing reading glasses.
Multifocal lenses are especially useful for patients with presbyopia (age-related farsightedness), but can also be useful as a myopia management method for nearsighted kids.
Myopia control contact lenses are specially designed to slow the progression of myopia (nearsightedness) in children. During childhood, myopia can increase rapidly, with your child’s prescription increasing by 0.05 D or more each year. Increased myopia is also associated with an increased risk of serious eye conditions that can develop in the future.
Myopia control contact lenses correct your child’s nearsightedness for clear vision, while also signaling to the eye to slow its elongation. These lenses can be a powerful myopia management method that leaves your child or teen free to participate in sports and other activities without worrying about their glasses.
Ortho-k, or orthokeratology, are specially designed rigid gas-permeable contact lenses, custom-fit to your eyes. They are worn overnight and gently reshape your cornea while you sleep. By reshaping your cornea, we adjust the way light is focused on your retina, providing you with clear vision during the day, free of glasses or contacts. Ortho-k lenses are useful for both myopia (nearsightedness) and mild astigmatism.
Because they are worn overnight, ortho-k lenses are a great option for people with an active lifestyle, those who struggle with daytime contacts due to dry eyes, and individuals looking for an alternative to refractive surgery. Ortho-k lenses have also been clinically and scientifically proven to slow the progression of myopia in children and adolescents.
We fit Paragon CRT (Corneal Refractive Therapy) ortho-k lenses, which have been FDA approved for myopia treatment since 2002.
Toric contact lenses are specially designed for people with astigmatism. They have a unique, donut-like shape that helps to correct the shape of your eye and provide clear vision at the same time.
Toric contact lenses include built-in stabilizing features to help them stay in the right position on your eye throughout the day, so your vision stays clear and consistent.
