Clear Vision, Healthy Eyes
At Bellaire Family Eye Care, our team from the front desk, our clinical technicians, and the doctors are all committed to you and your family having the very best vision and eye health possible. We understand how important and valuable good vision is to everyone and we don’t take our role lightly.
It all begins with yearly exams to assess the health of the eye and to determine the optimal prescriptions for your needs. If specific diagnoses are identified, whether with binocular vision, cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration, or dry eye – more extensive testing and assessments can be recommended.
We utilize the latest in technology during your yearly exam, including “no-puff” pressure measurements, high-resolution retinal photography, and tests assessing nutritional preventative care for the eyes.
We are here to serve you and your family!

When Do I Need an Eye Exam?
Every person is unique, and so are your eye care needs. Your doctor will recommend how often you should have an eye exam based on your eye health, your vision, and any conditions you may have. These recommendations may change over time as your needs change — and that’s completely normal.
For most people, we suggest a yearly eye exam to keep your vision and eye health on track. If you have existing eye conditions, a family history of eye disease, wear contact lenses, or are receiving treatment such as dry eye care or vision therapy, we may recommend more frequent visits to give you the best care possible.
We’re always here to help you know what’s right for you and to make your experience feel comfortable, personal, and well‑guided.
What Happens During an Eye Exam?
From the moment you arrive, you’ll be warmly welcomed and gently guided through your visit. Our team is here to make sure you feel comfortable, informed, and at ease every step of the way.
One of our team members will help you get settled and guide you through a few simple tests that give your doctor important information about your eyes. These are quick, non‑invasive, and help us personalize your care.
You’ll then spend time with your doctor, who will take the time to listen — not just to your vision concerns, but also to how you use your eyes every day, from work and hobbies to the little things that matter most to you. This conversation helps your doctor tailor recommendations specifically for your life.
Your doctor will carefully examine the health and function of your eyes, explain what they see, and answer any questions you may have. If glasses, contact lenses, or other treatments are recommended, we’ll walk you through your options so you feel confident and supported in your decisions.
If eyewear is part of your care plan, one of our opticians will be happy to help you choose frames you love or assist with next steps for contact lenses. Sometimes dilation is recommended so your doctor can get a more complete view of your eye health. If that’s the case, we’ll explain why and what to expect, including temporary light sensitivity afterward.
Eye Conditions We Assess For
During your eye exam, your doctor will look for signs of conditions that may affect your vision, comfort, or long-term eye health, including:
Dry Eye
We screen for dryness that can cause burning, irritation, redness, or a gritty, scratchy feeling.
Digital Eye Strain
We evaluate how screen use and daily habits may be impacting your eyes, especially if you spend long hours on computers or digital devices.
Binocular Vision / Eye Teaming
We check how well your eyes work together, which can affect reading, depth perception, eye comfort, focus, and visual fatigue.
Presbyopia
We assess the normal, age‑related changes that can make near tasks like reading more difficult, along with discussing options to keep things clear and comfortable.
Eye Disease and Eye Health Changes
We screen for conditions such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, keratoconus, and diabetic eye disease, often before noticeable symptoms appear.
If anything needs attention, we’ll take the time to explain what we see and guide you through the next steps in a way that feels clear, supportive, and unhurried.
Book Your Eye Exam Today
Even when your vision feels completely normal, regular eye exams are an important part of caring for your overall well‑being. Many common symptoms—such as headaches, dizziness, light sensitivity, motion sickness, balance issues, or difficulty reading—can be connected to how your eyes are working.
A comprehensive eye exam helps your doctor make sure your vision is comfortable and that your eyewear is supporting you the way it should.
Some eye conditions develop quietly, without noticeable symptoms. An exam is often the only way to spot these changes early, when treatment can make the biggest difference.
If you’re due for a visit, we’d love to care for you. Prioritize your sight and well‑being by booking your eye exam today.
